In this article for Survey-Magazine, I discuss the responses - and limitations - of the e-copyright Directive and the new IA Act to the challenges of transparency and remuneration for authors whose content has been used to drive AI algorithms or from which it has been "inspired".
I call for the creation of a new neighboring right for authors. For the sake of effectiveness, this right could be remunerated by a European fund financed by the AI industry.
