Our lawyers speak out
AI in information processing: real opportunities for media and journalists, but also an existential risk.
đ With Christophe Payet and David DieudonnĂ©, we discussed this fascinating topic with Ludovic Pauchant as part of the "Medias en Seine" event.
We addressed:
- The real opportunities AI offers for creating artistic content!
- How AI can analyze relevant data and extract information, simplify content writing, relieve humans of tedious tasks, and ultimately enhance their capabilities, whether they are creators or journalists!
- The role of AI in profiling readers to better tailor content to their interests.
We also emphasized the ethical guidelines in newsrooms to verify automated content and avoid confining readers to an echo chamber.
â±ïž In the medium term, there is a risk of disintermediation of traditional media in favor of AI agents controlled by major platforms. By monetizing access to their archives today to train large language models, these same media outlets risk being replaced tomorrow by agents that will use these data banks to generate content and deliver it to their audiences.
The solution? A conscious effort by media organizations to address this real risk and to develop their own ethical AI systems without relying on platforms.
đïž Journalism holds a fundamental responsibility to inform. Verified and accessible information forms the foundation of any democracy and is inseparable from accountability.
At a time when, out of allegiance to Trumpism, Mark Zuckerberg questions the need for fact-checking and speaks of institutionalized censorship, traditional media have never played such a crucial role!
