Constantin Pavleas has been appointed on 30 June as a member of the Board of EETT, the Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nConstantin Pavleas offered the following reflections on this appointment:<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
I see this appointment as a rare opportunity: to approach, from the regulator\u2019s perspective, the digital law issues that have been at the heart of my legal practice for over 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Legal practice requires understanding and defending a client\u2019s interests within their broader legal, economic and strategic context. Regulation calls for a different perspective: balancing competing interests, ensuring predictability and safeguarding the public interest. I am convinced that these perspectives can enrich one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
EETT\u2019s responsibilities reflect the transformation of digital regulation. Alongside its longstanding role in electronic communications, spectrum and postal services, EETT is Greece\u2019s Digital Services Coordinator under the DSA and has also been entrusted with responsibilities under Greece\u2019s framework for implementing the AI Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I would also like to pay tribute to Professor Dimitrios Varoutas, who chaired the first Board meetings in which I participated and whose sudden passing this summer deeply affected EETT and all of us. I was deeply impressed by his leadership, his profound kindness and the care he took to welcome and guide the new Board members, with remarkable clarity, patience and generosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am very pleased to continue this work alongside the acting Chair, Vice-Chair and my fellow Board members, and grateful to the Greek authorities for the trust placed in me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I look forward to contributing to EETT\u2019s work and to a trusted, innovative and resilient European digital environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
